Joy Kuhl is a client executive with Perficient’s healthcare industry practice. She has extensive experience working with hospital executives, organization leaders, and front-line clinicians and technologists in both the public and private sectors to advance the use of healthcare information technology to address industry challenges.
At the strategic level, Joy helped form and lead several nonprofit healthcare industry alliances, and has served in leadership roles for the Alliance for Pediatric Quality, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, HL7 International, and the Health Story Project, which is now under the umbrella of the HIMSS organization. She also spent four years managing a technology group purchasing portfolio and facilitating a forum for children’s hospital CIOs–bringing them together for education, best practice sharing, joint projects, and group purchasing activities.
At the geekiest level, Joy had a 7-year stint on behalf of the Child Health Corporation of America as co-chair of the child health work group within HL7 International. During that time she led several key projects to advance the use of data standards in healthcare, including development of pediatric standards for electronic medical records as well as the first national standard for reporting quality measures, now referenced in national requirements for meaningful use of electronic health records systems.
Joy has a deep understanding and appreciation for both the strategic and practical challenges around the use of health IT.
