Pete is a Healthcare Information Technology professional with over 25 years of Information Technology and Clinical experience. He served 21 years in the U.S. Navy. As a Chief Hospital Corpsmen he was assigned as an Emergency Medical Technician, U.S. Marine infantry Corpsman and Aerospace Physiology Technician. As a commissioned Medical Service Corps Officer, he served as a Family Practice Management Officer, AAFP Residency Practice Management Director, Medical Battalion Company Commander, Medical Plans and Operations Officer, and computer system security officer. Additionally, he served as a medical planner for Military Medical Humanitarian missions to Haiti and remote Alaskan villages.
Pete joined Hayes Management Consulting in September 2004 as a Senior Healthcare Consultant. He came from the University of Florida Physicians where he was the Director of Information Systems. He was responsible for the management of the scheduling and billing systems, strategic development of the Web-Portal interfaces, improvement of financial analysis tools and assistance with HIPAA implementation.
Prior to UF, Pete was the CIO for Spryance, and helped create the information technology strategy and model for the medical transcription audio file transfers to overseas dictation. Additionally, he was the IT Director of Physician Systems, Ancilla Health Systems.
Pete holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. He is currently a CQI facilitator, Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Blogger for Healthcare Informatics Magazine.
