Chicago favorites not to be missed while at HIMSS15
Chicago’s history runs deep, but their love for pizza runs deeper. Their Chicago-style deep dish pizza is easily 2” tall and nothing but crust, cheese, and whatever toppings you choose. It’s certain to have you walking extra laps at HIMSS15 Chicago! We’ve asked our Next Wave Connect members, ACEs and staff to share their favorite places to eat and their favorite places to visit in Chicago. Here’s our shortlist for HIMSS attendees.
What and where to eat?
You'll definitely need your energy to get through all the networking, presentations, and exhibits at HIMSS15 in Chicago! The following are a few favorites from our members and staff:
Arguably two of the most well-known deep-dish pizza restaurants in Chicago and locals are loyal to one or the other, although there are many other places to find good deep-dish in the city!
Gino’s East - 521 S Dearborn St., open daily 11am - 11pm and located about 2 miles from the conference center.
Giordano’s - 1340 S Michigan Ave, open Sun-Thurs 11am - midnight, Fri-Sat 11am - 1am and located about 1 mile from the conference center.
How could a trip to Chicago be complete without a Chicago dog? We can’t think of another city that has inspired the theme of so many different foods. Whether you choose Ed Debevic’s or Portillo’s, the aroma of beef will leave you with a smile on your face. The yellow mustard, green pickle spear, tomato slices, and sport peppers are what have given this hotdog it’s “dragged through the garden” reputation.
Ed Debevic’s - Chicago’s only retro-themed diner, serving up burgers, hot dogs, homemade chili, fries, milkshakes and more with a lot of attitude!
Open Mon-Thurs 11am - 9pm, Fri 11am - 11pm, Sat 9am - 11pm, Sun 9am - 9pm and located about 3.5 miles from the conference center at 640 N Wells St.
Portillo’s - Known for their Chicago dogs and their huge 2.5lb Italian beef sandwiches!
Open Mon - Thurs 10am - 11pm, Fri - Sat 10am - 1am, Sun 10am - midnight and located about 3.5 miles from the conference center at 100 W Ontario
